Workshop on Environmental and social performance standards for the extractive industry
Considering the good perspectives in the development of new projects of the oil and gas sector in Latin America, and the need to attract the investment for these projects, ARPEL organized a workshop on "Environmental and Social Performance Standards for the Extractive Industry”, with the support Petroperu as the host Company. It took place in Lima, Peru, during September 3rd and 4th, 2013.
Objectives of the workshop:
* Provide participants with relevant information about the IFC Sustainability Structure – which includes the Policy on Environmental and Social Sustainability, the Performance Standards and Guidance Notes.
* Encourage the discussion about the main challenges and opportunities in the industry in the compliance of the mentioned regulations.
* Foster the exchange of experiences in the compliance of the standards among the participating organizations.
