Arpel en Congreso Naturgas 2023

La ciudad de Barranquilla fue sede de la edición 25° del Congreso de la Asociación Colombiana de Gas Natural (Naturgas), el cual se desarrolló del 24 al 26 de mayo y reunió a representantes de toda la cadena del sector gas natural.

En representación de Arpel participó Carlos Garibaldi, Secretario Ejecutivo de Arpel, junto a Pablo Ferragut, Director Gerente y coordinador del Comité de Gas de la Asociación.

Garibaldi brindó una conferencia en el panel dedicado a “Gas Natural: Nuevas perspectivas y estrategias en América Latina”, el cual estuvo conformado además por Andrea Stegher, Vicepresidente de la Unión Internacional del Gas (IGU); Juan Fernando Espinal, Representante a la Cámara; Carlos Cortes, Coordinador Regional para América Latina y el Caribe de IGU, y Luz Stella Murgas, Presidenta de Naturgas.

Durante su exposición, el Secretario Ejecutivo de Arpel sostuvo que “el gas natural se encuentra en la intersección de la seguridad energética y las transiciones energéticas y puede ser el compañero ideal de transición”.

Garibaldi destacó que el gas natural genera muchas menos emisiones de GEI que el carbón o los combustibles derivados del petróleo, y es una fuente de energía que está continuamente disponible, relativamente barata y segura, y con tecnologías asociadas plenamente probadas.

“También puede proporcionar una base matricial más limpia y confiable que sea sinérgica con las energías renovables interrumpibles, como la hidráulica, la solar y la eólica”, dijo.

“La oportunidad y rol clave de nuestra región es el de proveer gas para la descarbonización y la seguridad energética, tanto en sus mercados domésticos, como en los regionales y, de lograr excedentes sustanciales, los internacionales”, señaló Garibaldi.

Como apertura de dicho panel, el vicepresidente de IGU realizó la presentación del White Paper “El gas natural en la transición hacia economías bajas en carbono - El caso de Latinoamérica y el Caribe”, elaborado y lanzado recientemente por Arpel, IGU y la Organización Latinoamericana de Energía (OLADE).
