Presentación de RETOS en taller nacional en Guyana para fortalecer la preparación a derrames de hidrocarburos

Arpel fue invitado a participar de un taller nacional que reunió a altos funcionarios de Guyana con el fin de mejorar la preparación y las capacidades de respuesta del país ante posibles incidentes de derrames de petróleo.

El encuentro tuvo lugar del 27 al 30 de agosto y fue organizado por RAC/REMPEITC-Caribe (Regional Marine Pollution Emergency, Information and Training Centre – Caribe) a través del Programa Integrado de Cooperación Técnica (PICT) de la Organización Marítima Internacional (OMI).

El taller se centró en las habilidades y conocimientos necesarios para gestionar y mitigar eficazmente los incidentes de derrames de petróleo en las zonas marítimas y costeras de Guyana.

Miguel Moyano, Director Gerente Senior de Arpel, fue el encargado de presentar a los participantes la herramienta RETOS, la cual ayuda a evaluar el nivel de planificación de preparación y respuesta ante derrames de hidrocarburos.

RETOS -respaldada por la OMI e Ipieca- tiene como particularidad que se trata de una herramienta la cual fue desarrollada por Arpel pero que ha sido utilizada por gobiernos y empresas en más de 100 países.

Los criterios de evaluación, provistos en la Guía Internacional, el Manual y la aplicación web de RETOS, proporcionan la base para una serie de listas de verificación mediante las cuales se pueden identificar brechas en los programas de preparación y planificación de respuesta a derrames de petróleo.
