From June 4 to 7, Arpel participated in the fourth edition of SEOGS 2024, an event organized in Paramaribo, Suriname, hosted by Staatsolie.
Carlos Garibaldi, Executive Secretary of Arpel, moderated the CEOs Panel on the theme “Global Implications, Challenges and Risks, Regional Dynamics, and Potential for Production Growth.”
The panel featured Annand Jagesar, CEO of Staatsolie; Joseph Khan, Chairman of the National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago; and Erik Keskula, Executive Director of Heritage Petroleum Company.
Garibaldi also served as a panelist in the session dedicated to “The Role of Natural Gas in Economic Development and Decarbonization,” along with Camilo Morales of Naturgas; Riverson Oppong of AOMC; Armando Zamora of the Centre for Carbon and Energy Management Studies; Rudolf Elias of EY Caribbean; and Mechelle Smith of the National Petroleum Corporation.
Additionally, Miguel Moyano, Senior Managing Director of Arpel, was a speaker in the panel on “Prevention, Preparedness, and Response to Spills – National and Regional Perspectives,” which included Simon Byrne of Total Energies, EP Suriname; Tristan Barston of Oil Spill Response Ltd.; Michel Amafo of the Maritime Authority Suriname; and Jerry Slijngard of the National Coordination Centre for Disaster Management, moderated by Wakif Beydoun of IOGP.
Moyano also facilitated the panel dedicated to Health, Safety, and Environment.
The following week, Carlos Garibaldi visited Trinidad & Tobago to participate in the Caribbean Sustainable Energy Conference, held from June 10 to 12 in Port of Spain, organized by The Energy Chamber of T&T.
In this framework, Garibaldi gave a keynote lecture on “Just and Plural Energy Transitions, and the role of Natural Gas”, in which he highlighted the plural and fair nature that energy transitions must have and the opportunity for natural gas.
