In order of the oil and gas industry to be able to assess the energyusage and efficiency of the operations of facilities within theirindustry, a set of standardized energy indices and methods forestimating these indices is required. This guideline presents key factors that have to beconsidered when establishing and estimating energy indices for both theupstream and downstream oil and gas industry. These indices can be usedby companies and facilities to benchmark where they stand in comparisonwith an industry average. The guideline notes how facilities'complexity factors evolved and how those factors have a directcorrelation to energy use.

In view of the major contribution that vehicular emissions make to urban air quality, governments around the world have enacted legislation designed to reduce vehicle emissions. Developed countries have implemented increasingly stringent emission standards that have forced technological advances or responded to available, proven technology. The reductions in emissions are due to improvements in vehicle technology and fuel properties. The influences of vehicle technology and fuel composition on emissions are complex and interdependent. This report focuses on the effect of engine and vehicle technology changes as they affect vehicle emissions.
