This guideline is part of the following trilogy of ARPEL publications on pipeline geotechnics: i. Guide 1 on monitoring geohazards for the integrity of pipelines, already published in 2016, ii. Guide 2 on geotechnical mitigation works in pipelines, published in 2023, iii. Guide 3 of geotechnical risk in pipelines, in preparation program between the years 2023 and 2024. The content of this Guideline, number 2, referring to geotechnical mitigation works in pipelines, places special emphasis on issues related to the types of geotechnical works that are necessary in the different stages of the life cycle of an asset -referring to a hydrocarbon transportation system. For this reason, the chapters of: Introduction, Glossary, Pipeline Design, Pipeline Construction, Operation and Maintenance, Technical Abandonment of the pipeline, Applied Geomatics and some Case Studies, are considered.
