A two-day workshop on “Oil Spill Preparedness, Response and Cooperation - Central America Regionalization” was conducted during April 13 & 14, 2005 in Balboa, PANAMA. The workshop was developed by ARPEL with the contribution of the Regional Marine Pollution Emergency, Information and Training Center - Caribbean (RAC/REMPEITC-Carib) and the Central American Commission of Maritime Transportation (COCATRAM).
The workshop was the first forum of its kind where attendees from seven Central American countries jointly discussed and formulated regional oil spill preparedness and response issues. The seven Central American countries represented were: Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama.
