Marcus Lisboa, oil spill management consultant, was in charge of presenting the Arpel RETOS™ guide and tool -now officially endorsed by Ipieca and the International Maritime Organization (IMO)-, whose purpose is to assess and improve the level of preparedness and planning for oil spill response.
The international conference for the Asia-Pacific region was organized by Australia's leading government and industry agencies responsible for the country's marine environmental protection agreements, the Australian Institute of Petroleum (AIP) and the Australian Marine Oil Spill Centre (AMOSC).
The event included a training session in which Marcus Lisboa gave a workshop entitled “SPREP/IMO Regional Workshop on Developing Oil Spill Preparedness and Response Planning in Pacific Small Island and Other Developing States.”
Finally, the RETOS™ tool and the International Guide were part of the agenda of the Oil Terminal and Monobuoy Operators Conference, an event organized by SLOM from September 27 to 29 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
