As part of the Extraordinary Assembly held in Mexico in mid-November, Arpel and Honeywell organized a workshop titled "H2 as an ally on the road to net-zero: technology, regulation and sector strategy."
The activity began with a technical visit to Honeywell's Technology Center and continued with the opening of the workshop, which took place simultaneously in a virtual format for both Arpel members and non-members.
The first panel was dedicated to the Technology applied to H2 and featured the participation of professionals from UOP, Electric Hydrogen, Ecopetrol, Y-TEC, and Honeywell.
During the second day, experts from Hinicio, Ancap, Ecopetrol, Petrobras, H2 Mexico, Colombia, and Chile, AIE, BID, GIZ, and McKinsey & Company addressed the role of H2 in the energy transition, regulatory frameworks, incentives and certification, and the development of the regional market.
While there are still significant challenges to overcome for projects producing hydrogen from renewable sources to thrive and scale on an industrial level, our region has abundant natural resources to produce it. Industry companies possess extensive knowledge and infrastructure to drive its development, providing a competitive advantage over other regions worldwide.
During the workshop, held at Honeywell's facilities, Arpel member companies also shared their plans and projects, which allowed us to understand the common challenges they face in different countries in the region.
