CCUS y Geotermia en América Latina: Webinars Arpel-Sproule

Siguiendo con la agenda de actividades relacionadas a Transiciones Energéticas -uno de los cuatro vectores estratégicos de Arpel-, se llevó a cabo una serie de webinars en conjunto con la empresa Sproule sobre transición energética en América Latina.

La primera entrega tuvo lugar el 18 de mayo y trató sobre el papel y oportunidades de almacenamiento de CO2 (CCUS) en América Latina aprovechando el conocimiento actual de los yacimientos petrolíferos.

Richard Hares, Gerente de Gestión de Carbono de Sproule, brindó la charla titulada “Liberando el potencial de CCUS en América Latina: aprovechando décadas de conocimiento de reservorios”.

La Captura, Utilización y Almacenamiento de Carbono (CCUS, por sus siglas en inglés) se está convirtiendo en un componente crítico para que cualquier país o industria lo considere como parte de una estrategia general para mitigar las emisiones.

Hares habló sobre estrategias para reducir el riesgo en los proyectos y definir modelos de negocio rentables de CCUS para el sector emergente e incierto de CCUS en América Latina, aplicando lecciones aprendidas de América del Norte.

La segunda entrega se realizó el 1° de junio y tuvo como temática las oportunidades de generación de energía a través de la geotermia.

La conferencia estuvo a cargo de Floris Veeger, Director Gerente de Geotermia de Sproule, quien compartió su experiencia en la realización y gestión de operaciones geotérmicas.

La producción de energía geotérmica es una oportunidad clave de crecimiento potencial en América Latina y el Caribe, varios sitios ya están en operación y más de una docena de proyectos ya han sido anunciados.

Los dos encuentros virtuales contaron con la moderación de Tiphaine Le Moënner, gerente de Proyectos Senior de Arpel.
