Arpel participated in the latest edition of Rio Pipeline 2023 held from August 8 to 10. On this occasion, the Arpel Guide for the execution of civil and geotechnical works, launched at the beginning of 2023 and available for Arpel members (https://arpel.org/library/publication/538/).
The presentation was led by Martín Carnicero, an engineer from YPF and a member of Arpel's Geotechnical Project Team.
This second guide, which is part of Arpel's trilogy of publications on pipeline geotechnics, places special emphasis on topics related to the types of geotechnical works necessary in different stages of the life cycle of an asset (hydrocarbon transportation system). The document includes Case Studies, Pipeline Design and Construction, Operation and Maintenance, among other topics addressed in the different chapters.
Within the framework of Rio Pipeline 2023, a face-to-face meeting of the Arpel Pipelines and Terminals Committee took place, led by Fabián Sánchez, Arpel's Project Manager based in Ecuador.
The meeting was held at the offices of the Brazilian Institute of Oil and Gas (IBP) and was attended by representatives of 10 member companies. During the meeting, the committee's ongoing activities were analyzed and the 2023-2024 work plan was presented.
Another activity performed within the framework of this important event was the visit to Transpetro's main control room by the OCP Ecuador delegation.
