As a result of the analysis made by participants of the Workshop "Participatory monitoring of social-environmental management in the oil and gas industry in Latin America and the Caribbean" during March 8-9, 2005 in Puerto La Cruz, VENEZUELA, it was agreed a basic structure of each of the probable main components to be included in an operational and management protocol to develop a PMSEM plan based on existing practices and their own experience. Information contained in this document could serve as a reference for oil and gas companies to develop their own PMSEM protocols aligning them with their own policies on corporate social responsibility and/or -should there exist- the normative framework where they operate.
