Arpel is a non-profit association gathering oil, gas and renewable energy sector companies and institutions in Latin America and the Caribbean. Founded in 1965 as a vehicle of cooperation and reciprocal assistance among sector companies, its main purpose is to actively contribute to industry integration and competitive growth, and to sustainable energy development in the region.

Its members currently operate in more than 30 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, including national and international operating companies; technology, goods and services providers for the value chain, and national and international institutions in the sector.
Since 1976, Arpel holds Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). In 2006, the association declared its adherence to the UN Global Compact principles.

Strategic Vectors
Arpel’s strategy is aligned with four work vectors: Operational Excellence, Energy Transitions, Sustainable Management and Stakeholder Engagement.
Among the main objectives are promoting the optimization of operations, safety management, environmental protection and integrity of member companies’ assets.
It also aims to identify opportunities and risks for the oil and gas industry, resulting from the global energy transition process, and support its members’ management in their adjustment to the new business scenario.

Value Proposition
1. We provide a forum for the exchange of knowledge and experiences
on operational and management issues among our member companies. We offer assistance to our partners to solve specific problems through various means, in addition to developing a comprehensive training program tailored to their needs.
2. We have direct relationships with governments
in the Region and are recognized as the only organization for the development of the oil and gas industry in Latin America and the Caribbean. Over the years, we have established a solid collaboration scheme with Hydrocarbon Agencies and with OLADE.
3. We are the only regional link
between international and national business associations. Furthermore, we coordinate a collaborative international network of specialized professional and industry associations.
4. We support our partners' initiatives in adapting to the new business scenario related to energy transitions.
Organization and Governance
The Bodies of the Association are the Assembly, the Board of Directors, the Fiscal Commission and the Executive Secretariat.
The Assembly is the highest authority of Arpel and is composed by the Representatives of the Active, Cooperative and Institutional Members.
