Workshop on Effluent Treatment System at YPF’s Luján de Cuyo Refinery
ARPEL’s Refining Committee organized in mid-September a new meeting to exchange best practices on water use in refineries.
On this occasion, the structure and operation of the liquid effluent treatment system of YPF’s Luján de Cuyo Refinery was analyzed.
The presentation was given by Luis Deamici, Head of YPF’s Auxiliary Services Plant.
The workshop began with the purging of tanks, desalinators, coke water, API pools, use of centrifuges, use of coke Blown Down, additives, biological treatment plant, and ponds, among others.
The above mentioned system was developed over the years, which led to the modernization of the facilities according to legal requirements and the incorporation of new operating units. Today, it is being challenged by the change in the type of crude oil as a result of shale oil processing.
