PRESENTATION OF ARPEL'S ROADMAP FOR CONTRIBUTING TO THE SECTOR'S SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS TO SNMPE PARTNERS

  • In mid-January, the "Roadmap to boost the contribution to the SDGs of the oil and gas industry in Latin America and the Caribbean" was presented before the Social and Environmental Affairs Committee for Hydrocarbons of the National Society of Mining, Petroleum and Energy (SNMPE), comprising experts from the main companies in the sector in Peru.

The presentation was given by Pablo Ferragut, Managing Director of ARPEL, who also developed the document published in 2021. Download link (English and Spanish): https://arpel.org/library/publication/531/

The SNMPE is currently in the process of developing a similar document for the sector in Peru, so the presentation was aimed at sharing the methodology and the process of building the ARPEL Roadmap.

This process was based on surveys and participatory workshops with companies and institutions of the sector at regional level, which allowed prioritizing 7 SDGs and establishing 22 lines of action.

The White Paper defines a common work agenda and concrete actions to promote the incorporation of the SDGs into business strategy, establish alliances, provide management solutions, measure and communicate progress.

This meeting represented another instance of collaboration with the SNMPE, in an effort to promote sustainability in the hydrocarbons sector and in line with SDG17 "Alliances to achieve the Goals".
