A PANEL INTEGRATED BY CHEVRON, ENAP, AND REPSOL IN VIRTUAL MEETING ORGANIZED BY ARPEL AND THE WPC ON THE ROLE OF PARTNERSHIPS IN THE ENERGY TRANSITION

  • ARPEL and the World Petroleum Council (WPC) co-organized the webinar “The role of business partnerships in the energy transition in the oil & gas sector,” which took place on April 14, prior to ARPEL’s Annual Representative Assembly.

The purpose of this exclusive webinar was to analyze how our companies face the challenges derived from the energy transitions in the oil & gas sector in Latin America and the Caribbean, and how business partnerships can help them go through the energy transition process.

The event also discussed what strategies the companies are implementing and their role in national decarbonization plans in their countries of operation.

Methane emissions, hydrogen, the food-water-energy trilogy, talent development, and the SDGs were some of the specific topics addressed.

At the beginning, both ARPEL and WPC presented the topic as seen from their own perspective, represented by Pablo Luna, General Management Advisor of EP PETROECUADOR, a partner company currently chairing ARPEL’s Board of Directors, and Tor Fjæran, President of WPC, respectively.

The meeting was followed by the reflections of an important panel integrated by Pedro Miras Salamanca, Director of Institutional Affairs and Organizations of Repsol; Juris Agüero Carocca, Director of Gas and Electricity Development of Enap, and Arthur Lee, Senior Strategy Advisor of Chevron.

Executives from Ancap, Axion Energy, Chevron, Enap, EP Petroecuador, IHS-Markit, Oldelval, Petroperú, Tecpetrol, Tema, TGN, TGS, YPF and Repsol participated in the workshop, as well as the following organizations: IBP (Brazilian Institute of Oil & Gas), IOGP (International Association of Oil & Gas Producers), and WPC.
