COURSE AND POSTER ON RETOS IN THE 2021 IOSC VIRTUAL EDITION
Once again, ARPEL participated in the International Oil Spill Conference (IOSC), which took place on May 10-14.
On this first virtual edition, the Association was represented by Elliott Taylor, PhD in Oceanography; Darío Miranda, marine biologist and environmental consultant, and Miguel Moyano, Acting Executive Secretary of ARPEL.
The IOSC seeks to promote knowledge and experience sharing among Government agencies, researchers, and the industry on best oil spill response practices.
Within the framework of this important event, ARPEL first delivered a course on the “Manual to Assess Oil Spill Readiness and Response Planning” and its assessment tool called RETOS, to later present a poster.
RETOS, which was developed in 2011 and subsequently upgraded in 2014 and 2016, has become an international reference in the matter and is currently being used by companies and governments in the five continents.
ARPEL developed the RETOS tool supported by international subject-matter experts, to help governments and companies in assessing the competence level of their oil spill readiness and response plans and programs, based on common use criteria that are considered a part of the best international practices.
