ARPEL PRESENT AT THE WORLD PETROLEUM CONGRESS

  • ARPEL was present at the 24th World Petroleum Congress held from September 17 - 21 in Calgary, Canada, with the participation of more than 5,000 delegates and 10,000 visitors from 100 countries.

    Arpel´s participation in this new WPC edition was an excellent networking opportunity to contact different key players in the sector, as well as a fruitful opportunity to identify potential collaboration mechanisms to address just energy transitions in Latin America.

    In this edition, ARPEL's Executive Secretary, Carlos Garibaldi, was part of the session on Social Responsibility and License to Operate in the Framework of Energy Transitions, together with Lisa Balton from the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP), Brian Sullivan from Ipieca, and Kim McHugh from Chevron.

    In this regard, Carlos Garibaldi said that good Social Responsibility Management is key for Oil & Gas companies. “Integrating environmental and social demands into our business activities and stakeholder interactions will make our traditional business sustainable,” he said.

    Miguel Moyano, Senior Excecutive Director of ARPEL, spoke on a panel on the balance needed in upstream production, along with Julio Moreira of the E&P division of the Brazilian Petroleum and Gas and Institute (IBP), and Mateus da Costa of the National Petroleum and Minerals Authority (ANPM) of Timor Leste.

    In addition to the representation in Calgary, ARPEL was again an institutional supporter of the World Petroleum Congress.
