ARPEL LECTURED ON GOVERNANCE TO MAXIMIZE THE BENEFITS OF THE SECTOR AT SIPEX 2021 SUMMIT

  • Staatsolie, an ARPEL's member, organized the Surinam International Oil & Gas Summit and Exhibition - SIPEX 2021, which took place virtually in October 5-7.

    The Association was represented by its Executive Secretary, Miguel Moyano, who took part in Session 2 on "Improving the Governance Structures to Maximize the Benefits of the Oil and Gas Industry in the Region."

    Moyano stated that "governments and the oil and gas industry need to be creative," defining regulatory approaches, promoting tax incentives and seeking to streamline environmental permits processes.

    He also remarked the importance of identifying business strategies and making the most of technological advances and the potential of digitalization to generate a better understanding of the needs in the sector, especially in rapidly expanding countries.

    The Summit's main goal was to provide a space for dialog so regional government authorities, local businessmen and entrepreneurs could exchange experiences with representatives of international oil companies, service providers, business experts and investors.
