The text establishes a set of indicators that both parties consider important and also provides the means to develop such indicators in cooperation with communities. This document summarizes key trends in the development and use of indicators and presents the most important examples to support companies that are ready to take its first actions in this social area. The guideline counts with the most important contribution of the Confederation of Indigenous Organizations of the Amazon Basin (COICA). This organization reviewed the guidelines indicating that this document has the caractheristic of flexibility and tolerance regarding the indigenous communities point of view about operations of oil and gas. The fact that this operational guidelines were developed jointly with representatives of the oil and gas industry and of indigenous communities is something that has never been heard, almost unique in its gender.
