WEBINAR ON ENERGY EFFICIENCY IN CHARGE OF KBR FOR ARPEL MEMBERS

  • A webinar on "Energy Efficiency through Low-Temperature Heat Recovery” was held at the end of November only for ARPEL members.

The lecture was in charge of Juan Gómez Prado, who leads the Energy Efficiency Group within the consulting sector of KBR, an ARPEL Member Company.

It is estimated that 30 % of the heat of many industrial processes is lost as waste heat, i.e., below 150°C. In fact, this is a vast untapped energy reserve.

According to the expert, there are multiple approaches to use low-temperature heat with different advantages and challenges, and their success depends on how to integrate them into industrial facilities.

During the webinar, the various options available for low-temperature heat recovery were discussed, from integration of direct heat and Organic Rankine cycle to the latest in this technological environment, "QPinch."

During his consulting work, Gómez Prado has gained experience in the development of projects oriented to cost savings for existing process units as well as in projects focused on capital savings for design of databases for different sectors, particularly for the oil refining industry and the petrochemical market.
