PARTNERS-ONLY VIRTUAL WORKSHOP ON “CORPORATE MANAGEMENT OF CLIMATE RISKS IN OIL & GAS COMPANIES”
Companies in the oil & gas sector in the Region are gradually incorporating climate risks into their assessment matrices, taking preventive and emergency readiness and response measures in the event of climate emergencies, while insuring their facilities against such risks.
However, there are still many challenges for the industry to face in terms of their adaptation to climate change―public-private articulation, access to funding sources, and the incorporation of climate change into strategic planning processes and corporate management.
The latter aspect was addressed in the first edition of ARPEL’s series of virtual Workshops on Climate Risks, which was held last June 3, promoted by the Association’s Climate Change Work Group.
The virtual event was attended by Celeste Moscetta (OLDELVAL); Erick Tolcach (YPF); Juan del Carmen Gallarday (PETROPERÚ); Cecilia Meza (EP PETROECUADOR); Rafael Neria (PEMEX); Stephen Wharton (TECPETROL); Gemma Martínez (TEMA); Federico Paloma, and Irene Alfaro, the Group’s coordinator on behalf of ARPEL.
A special guest in the meeting was Fabián Gaioli, Executive Director of Coralia Environmental, a consulting firm whose mission is to contribute to sustainable development by identifying, implementing, and monitoring environmental and social improvement actions.
