SECOND VIRTUAL DELIVERY OF THE COURSE ON "ENERGY MANAGEMENT AND ISO 50001 STANDARD FOR THE OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY"

  • The second virtual delivery of the course on "Energy Management and ISO 50001 Standard for the Oil and Gas Industry" was held from September 6 to October 22.

Professionals from Ancap (Uruguay), Coga (Peru), Enap (Chile), Recope (Costa Rica), Repsol (Peru), and Techint (Argentina) participated in this new online delivery.

The training was carried out in an asynchronous mode with a weekly synchronous meeting.

The main goals of the course were to establish guidelines for the implementation of an Energy Management System in process industries focusing on the oil and gas sector, introduce the ISO 50001 standard, and provide tools to manage the continuous improvement of the company's energy performance.

Energy consumption in a process industry can represent up to 60% of its operating costs, and can therefore be the largest of the manageable costs.

The benefits of implementing an Energy Management System (EMS) are translated not only in energy savings but also in increased productivity, improved product quality, and reduced waste. If we focus on industries that consume fossil fuels, energy efficiency also makes a contribution to the environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
