Second edition of Training Course on Indigenous Peoples focused on Argentina

  • December 2017. ARPEL and the Argentine Institute of Oil and Gas (IAPG) organized the second edition of the course on "Indigenous Peoples and the Hydrocarbon Industry" with a focus on Argentina, which was held December 4-5, 2017.

Professionals of Pan American Energy, Pluspetrol, Tecpetrol, TGS, YPF, Alliani y Bruzzon Abogados, BFMYL Abogados and Contreras participated in the event.

The main topics addressed during the training were: The definition and the socio-demographic and cultural characterization of indigenous peoples in general and of Argentina in particular; the international framework applicable and the administrative and legal framework in this country; the relations between the State, the hydrocarbon industry and indigenous peoples; and the management of relations with indigenous peoples.

ARPEL recently released the report "Cases of Relations with Indigenous Peoples," which compiles different cases of relations submitted by Chevron, Ecopetrol, Petrobras, Repsol, YPFB and Pluspetrol as a way to transmit experiences, lessons learned and best practices that can be useful for companies operating in the region.
