PRE AND POST CRISIS REFINING SECTOR, DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN CYCLE "ARPEL CONFERENCE WEBINARS"

  • In recent months, the Association organized three new virtual seminars in the “ARPEL Conference Webinars” cycle.

    One of them, held on August 20, was dedicated to the refining sector in Latin America before and after the crisis. The live webinar had a high participation of professionals, and had as speakers: Gabriel Grzona from YPF, Patricio Farfan from ENAP, Luis Fredes from Pan American Energy, Jorge Alméstar and Maximiliano Falla from Petroperú, Claudia Kalamar from Ancap , Rodrigo Abramof from Petrobras, Walter Fabián Canova from Ecopetrol, Alejandro Vago from Raízen, and Felipe Pérez from IHS-Markit. The moderation was in charge of Daniel Monzón of Arthur D. Little.

    The meeting had two main objectives: share and analyze the strategies implemented by companies in the sector to face the crisis generated by the COVID-19 pandemic; and discuss the prospects for the sector under the new post-pandemic normality.     Another of the seminars in the series of the ARPEL Conference Webinars, organized in mid-May, was on “Digital transformation and its implementation in the optimization, operation and safety of a refinery”.

    The speaker was Ariel Gallippi from Honeywell Digital - Transformation Unit and its purpose was to provide an overview of how the application of new technologies helps to face daily challenges and carry out the search for excellence in the different areas of refining, planning, operation, engineering and maintenance.     The third webinar, held on July 23, was "Artificial Intelligence applied to the optimization of continuous production processes", and was presented by Ariel Gallippi from Honeywell Digital - Transformation Unit and Estanislao Irigoyen from Inteligentia.

    After a slow start, the oil and gas industry is moving towards the adoption of digitization, as an effective tool for optimizing its work processes, both operational and organizational in search of improving the return on business investments within the framework of a friendly relationship with the environment and the community. In this webinar, the speakers presented real cases in which Artificial Intelligence was successfully applied in the industry.
