SCHLUMBERGER DELIVERED A WEBINAR ON THE EVOLUTION OF DIRECTIONAL DRILLING TOWARD AUTONOMY
At the end of October, Raúl Suárez Ortega, Well Construction Product Manager of Schlumberger, an ARPEL partner company, delivered a live webinar on “The Evolution of Directional Drilling Toward Autonomy.”
Directional drilling has improved a lot in recent years in terms of drilling tools, their specifications and capabilities, and in the monitoring and aid systems used on the surface for the best results.
With the purpose of reducing costs per meter drilled, the industry needs to achieve higher levels of performance, efficiency, consistency, reliability, and predictability in a sustainable way for well construction, regardless of the field, the drill, or the well path.
The evolution of directional drilling capabilities is already taking place, integrating digital advances and data management along with automated systems and processes.
Suárez Ortega was born in Venezuela, is an Electronics Engineer, and has a 19-year experience working with Schlumberger. He currently performs as a global Product Manager for drilling tools, including rotary drilling systems, downhole motors, reamers, jars, stabilizers, measurement and shock and vibration prevention tools, and casing-while-drilling technologies for Well Construction.
