RAÍZEN IN A VIRTUAL WORKSHOP ON OPERATIONAL IMPROVEMENTS FOR CLAUS PLANTS

  • A virtual workshop organized by the Refining Committee on “Operational Improvements for Claus Plants: Good Practices, Frequent Problems, and Lessons Learned” took place on October 27.

The speakers were Ignacio Raynoldi, Process Engineer for Thermal Cracking and Treating, and Javier Bocalón, RBA Process Engineering Manager, both from the Raízen Refinery in Buenos Aires.

The Claus plant has become essential to comply with environmental regulations, such that its processing capacity limits the load of the refinery.

On the other hand, the characteristics of the process, the type of final product, and the hazardous nature of its load mean that extreme care must be taken for both operation and maintenance.

We also know that operational optimization begins, at least, with the optimization of the sour water and amine units.
