PRESENTATION OF RETOS IN RIO DE JANEIRO AND BRASILIA

  • RETOS (Readiness Evaluation Tool for Oil Spills), developed by ARPEL as an assessment tool that provides guidance for oil and gas sector operators and governments regarding oil spill preparedness and response management, was presented in August at various technical meetings in Rio de Janeiro and Brasilia.

On the one hand, Marcus Lisboa Brandao, former Corporate Manager of Crisis and Emergency Response Plans of Petrobras and Consultant of ARPEL on this subject, made a presentation of RETOS to the authorities of the participating Brazilian institutions in the "Second Workshop on Technology and Environmental Licensing” held in Brasilia and organized by the Civil House of the Presidency of the Republic through the Secretariat of the Investment Partnership Program (PPI).

In the presentation, Lisboa highlighted some of the suggestions made by those attending two courses conducted a couples of day before in Rio de Janeiro and Brasilia by the Upstream Director of ARPEL, Miguel Moyano. These training courses were attended by technicians and professionals from Ibama, ANP, SPPI and ANTAQ.

In these courses, participants understood that RETOS could help in the assessment and approval of individual emergency plans (IEP) and in the licensing pre-diagnosis, and also facilitate the environmental licensing considering the weighting of the various aspects of an IEP.

RETOS is available in English, Spanish, French and Portuguese, and can be downloaded free of charge by clicking here
