PEMEX HOSTED THE THIRD MODULE OF THE TRAINING PROGRAM FOR SENIOR MANAGEMENT OF ARPEL

  • Mexico hosted the third module of the Training Program for Senior Management of ARPEL, which took place November 13-15 in Monterrey, and was attended by professionals of ANCAP, KBR Technology, PEMEX, Pluspetrol, Schlumberger and YPF.

This module deals with the subject: “The role of gas, coal and renewables as source of energy in an increasingly decarbonized world.”

Several issues on the agenda were discussed, such as Renewable energies and energy markets: Where are we and where are we going?, Innovation and technology: Is there a game changer on the horizon?, Natural gas: Bridge fuel or key contributor?, and Renewable energy, gas and the road to the future of Latin America, as well as practical exercises.

This time, the participants visited a gas plant and a renewable energy project, the Wind Farm "El Cortijo," both of PEMEX, an ARPEL member company.

In its first edition, the Training Program for Senior Management was in charge of high-level trainers of IHS Markit, also an ARPEL member company. The trainers in the third module were Lisa Pearl, David Crisostomo and Etienne Gabel. Irene Alfaro, Downstream Director, participated on behalf of the Association.

The first edition of the Training Program for Senior Management consisted of three modules: Global factors and their effects on the upstream sector of Latin America; Downstream sector, the new role of refining in a world of changing demand; and the third module held in Mexico. They constitute a comprehensive and unique training in our region that facilitates networking and provides a high-level overview of the energy business to those who will be the leaders of the oil and gas companies in the region.

The first module held June 11-13 in Argentina was hosted by YPF and included a technical visit to Vaca Muerta. The second module was held July 24-26 in Colombia, and included a visit to the Refinery of Cartagena.
