LAUNCH OF GUIDELINES FOR MANAGEMENT OF PIEPELINES AND TERMINALS CONTROL ROOMS

  • The Guidelines for Management of Pipelines and Terminals Control Rooms is intended to provide operators and controllers of pipelines and terminals with best management practices, which is essential to achieve a safe and efficient operation.

The document provides general guidelines to check the operation itself and achieve excellence in operational, social and environmental management.

The guidelines were developed by the Project Team for Certification of Pipeline Operators -made up of members of ARPEL Pipelines and Terminals Committee- with the participation of professionals from the following member companies and institutions: COGA, Ecopetrol, Enap, IBP, Oldelval, Petrobras, Pluspetrol, TGN, YPF, and YPFB.

Control rooms play a strategic role in the operation of pipelines and terminals. Decisions made and actions taken in control rooms have a high impact on the operation. Their role is essential for it to be carried out efficiently, effectively and safely for people, facilities and the environment that interact with the activity.

Consolidating knowledge and best practices of pipelines and terminals operating companies in the region in a single reference guide will help companies achieve operational excellence through the support of the processes of strategic decision-making regarding the operation of control rooms.

The guidelines are accompanied by an Excel file with the checklists that are described in the document. The electronic file allows the user to make a printout for his/her fieldwork as well as to include comments and to distribute it by electronic means among the professionals responsible for the management of control rooms of the company.
