First regional forum to discuss governance, risk and compliance in the oil and gas sector

  • The first Latin American Forum on Governance, Risk and Compliance in the oil and gas sector will be held November 13-14, 2014 in Rio de Janeiro. The event is organized by the Regional Association of Oil, Gas and Biofuels Sector Companies in Latin America and the Caribbean (ARPEL) and the Brazilian Petroleum Institute (IBP).

Some of the major themes that make up the agenda of the forum are practices to combat corruption in the oil and gas sector, operational, economic, regulatory, social, environmental and corporate risks, principles and practices of corporate governance, and models of governance, risk and compliance.

Minister Jorge Hage, Head of the Office of the Comptroller General of Brazil, will deliver a keynote address entitled "The global movement to combat corruption and the Brazilian legislation".

Distinguished lecturers from major companies and institutions such as Chevron Brazil, Hunt Business Intelligence, RIMS, YPF, Ecopetrol, Petroperú, Trust, Veirano a Advogados, Baker Hughes, Witt O'Brien's, UFBA, Schlumberger, Petrobras, Barra Energía, Siemens, PPSA, Guyer & Regules, and Weatherford, among others, will participate in this event.

The current business environment is becoming increasingly complex and regulated, challenging companies to remain competitive both in regional and global markets. In this context, the importance of corporate governance, the risks associated with the business as well as the regulatory requirements and the need to achieve a level of satisfactory compliance become crucial to the sector.

The Forum is aimed at executives, managers, professionals and business leaders linked to the oil and gas sector.
