87th RANE Process Safety in Oil and Gas E&P – Highlighted Articles

  • ARPEL presents the most remarkable articles of the 87th Experts Level Meeting (RANE) that took place last March, in Bogota. The Congress, called “Process Safety in Oil and Gas Exploration and Production” gathered more than 150 professionals from the hydrocarbon industry, in order to share experiences and case studies, as well as exchange ideas and present the most recent technologies, methodologies and management processes with regard to process safety in the oil and gas E&P.

After the event, the Organizing Committee selected the two most outstanding articles for its disclosure. The selected articles were “Industrial Risk Management - A tool to avoid catastrophic incidents” (Raúl Manga) and “Commissioning of the gas dehydration system, a challenge of the expansion project Phase 4 CPF Floreña” (Stefano Pagani). The first one proposes a vision of risk management, as well as techniques and appropriate tools to identify hazards, evaluate the risks and perform the efficient implementation of the preventive and mitigation measures that are necessary for process safety. The second article refers to a case that summarizes the challenges that had to be faced and the lessons learned in the commissioning process of the gas dehydration system of Floreña Processing Center (Equión – Colombia), in which it was incorporated a vision of process safety and a complex and successful risk analysis was carried out.
