ARPEL and the importance of technological innovation to improve management of the industry
The Regional Association of Oil, Gas and Biofuels Sector Companies in Latin America and the Caribbean (ARPEL) and Y-TEC organized a meeting of R&D centers in the region to analyze how technological solutions are a fundamental pillar to sustain competitive advantages and, above all, to evolve and develop articulately new applied knowledge, assets and services related to the whole value chain of the sector.
Participants at the meeting, held in late September in Berisso, Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, included Chairman of the Board of Directors of ARPEL, Carlos Colo, and the General Manager of Y-TEC, Santiago Sacerdote, and also representatives of IMP, Weatherford, Schlumberger, the GOT-IEA Program, General Electric, Spectrum, AXION, Chevron, DOW, Tenaris, Tecpetrol, among others.
Some of the main concepts transmitted by speakers were that "the creation of strategic alliances facilitates the search for innovative solutions," "international alliances allow enhancing capabilities, incorporating best practices and being at the forefront in knowledge key to the industry," and "an adequate internal management of knowledge in an organization working in different areas of technological innovation can provide a competitive advantage to the organization and find solutions from different industrial sectors."
The experts highlighted the factor of human talent as a comprehensive and fundamental element in the implementation of strategies, projects and development of technologies, thereby adding the required value for the industry.
Other fundamental objective of the meeting was to identify opportunities and mechanisms between R&D centers and organizations working in innovation and technology, taking advantage of ARPEL as a vehicle for cooperation.
