ARPEL subscribed agreements that enhance the development of the sector

  • The Regional Association of Oil, Gas and Biofuels Sector Companies in Latin America and the Caribbean (ARPEL) subscribed alliances with recognized international organizations that strengthen the commitment to academic research, best operational practices and process safety.

CCPS (Center for Chemical Process Safety),

On July, an agreement was reached with CCPS (Center for Chemical Process Safety), with the purpose of carrying out joint activities that enable the implementation of process safety standards in the oil and gas companies of Latin America and the Caribbean. This will enable a cooperation and assistance framework to improve the performance and impact of the solutions developed by each of the parties.

The agreement promotes the cooperation for the development of studies and projects, events and training courses. CCPS is an AIChE organism (American Institute of Chemical Engineers), which has been consolidated as an international reference for the oil, gas and petrochemical, in process safety issues.

Among the activities planned in the agreement the organization of a regional congress, as well as the reciprocal participation in projects of common interest are expected for 2017.

    Fundación Bariloche

On the other hand, and under the motto of establishing productive relations with the academic sector, ARPEL subscribed an important agreement with Fundación Bariloche for the development of research, training, dissemination and technical assistance activities in energy economy and climate change.

Fundación Bariloche is an Argentinean academic institution of high reputation in the region, focused on the generation of knowledge about energy, planning and energy policy, and particularly to its link with the sustainable development.

This agreement represents a step of utmost importance to ARPEL, based on the strategic lines drawn by the current Board of Directors, among which is the promotion of academic work and research.

SIGTTO (Society of International Gas Tankers and Terminals Operators)

With the aim of undertaking joint activities for the integrity of LNG operations in the region, ARPEL has signed an agreement with SIGTTO (Society of International Gas Tankers and Terminals Operators), that will enable the promotion the best operative practices in the region.

Next September 27th, in Buenos Aires, SIGGTO organizes the South America Regional Forum, sponsored by YPF and that will count with ARPEL institutional support.

SIGTTO is an international organization through which all LNG industry participants might share experiences, address common problems and develop best practices and acceptable standards. The objective of the Society is to promote safe, reliable and environmentally responsible operations.
