ARPEL JOINS PARTNER COMPANIES FOR METHANE EMISSIONS TRAINING
At the end of May, the “Methane Emissions for the Oil and Gas Sector” training was organized by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF), supported by ARPEL.
The following ARPEL member companies participated in the online training: TGN, EP PETROECUADOR, ENAP, CUPET together with the Cuban Meteorological Institute, CUBAENERGÍA, the Ministry of Water and Environment of Ecuador, the Ministry of Energy and Nonrenewable Resources of Ecuador, and the Ministries of Energy and Environment of Chile.
The main purpose of the activity was to provide information on how to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and avoid wasting energy resources, which will contribute to climate change-related goals, as well as to the programs focused on the hydrocarbon sector, while ensuring an improvement in air quality and energy infrastructure. It is worth mentioning that the activity was free of charge and was given in Spanish.
Reducing methane emissions has an impact on energy efficiency and air quality, as well as on the Region’s ecosystems and the health of the population.
A similar module is planned to be given in English with authorities and companies from Jamaica, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago.
