ARPEL LAUNCHES OECD-FUNDED PROGRAM TO PROMOTE CORPORATE RESPONSIBLE BEHAVIOR IN THE EXTRACTIVE SECTOR
The Capacity Building Program on Due Diligence for the Extractive and Minerals Sector in Latin America and the Caribbean was launched on October 19.
The program is financed by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), facilitated by the consulting firm CREER, and supported by ARPEL to encourage the participation of oil and gas companies in the region.
During the launch workshop, which was delivered virtually, the panel "Due Diligence Perspectives and Challenges" was moderated by Luis Fernando de Angulo, Managing Director of CREER; Cristina Muñoz, Technical Advisor for Regional Cooperation for the Sustainable Management of Mineral Resources (MINSUS); Juan Carlos Vargas, from the Labor Development Program (PLADES)/CNV International; María José Murillo, Supply Chain Leader and Representative of the Alliance for Responsible Mining, and Pablo Ferragut, Senior Project Manager of the Association.
The Program will have several synchronous and asynchronous instances that will run until March 2022, and seeks to promote corporate responsible behavior for the extractive sector in the region. Some 40 companies and institutions are benefiting from the program.
