ARPEL signed cooperation agreements with WEC and SLOM

  • The Regional Association of Oil, Gas and Biofuels Sector Companies in Latin America and the Caribbean (ARPEL) and the World Energy Council (WEC) signed a memorandum of understanding with the purpose of establishing a framework for cooperation and assistance between both organizations.

WEC is a UN-accredited international non-governmental organization that brings together leaders of the global energy sector. Formed in 1923, it has more than 3,000 member organizations located in 95 countries, representing governments, private and state corporations, academia, NGOs, among other stakeholders. Its mission is to promote the sustainable supply and use of energy for the benefit of all people.

On the other hand, ARPEL concluded an agreement with the Latin American Society of Oil Marine Terminal and SPM Operators (Sociedad Latinoamericana de Operadores de Terminales Marítimo Petroleros y Monoboyas - SLOM). The main purpose of this agreement is to promote the exchange of experiences linked to the industry and the pursuit of synergies in the technical activities developed by both organizations.

One of the objectives of ARPEL and SLOM is to encourage initiatives that will lead to the continuous improvement in operational performance and in the oil marine terminals integrity management.

Cooperation and joint actions in this area will result in a better use of the technical and human capabilities of ARPEL and SLOM, and will benefit the oil and gas industry in Latin America and the Caribbean.
